David Strucely

David Strucely was born in Dallas, TX, and grew up in the neighborhood of Lake Highlands. There he attended Calvary Lutheran School from grades Pre-Kindergarten until 8th grade. He attended Luther Preparatory School in Watertown, WI, and Martin Luther College in New Ulm, MN.

Before entering the seminary, Pastor Strucely lived in Lima, Peru, for two years. While he was there, he taught English courses in a local private school with over 1,000 students. He also assisted a local pastor in teaching Bible studies. Pastor Strucely is fluent in Spanish and would love the opportunity to use it.

After his time in Peru, Pastor Strucely attended Wisconsin Lutheran Seminary in Mequon, WI. During the third year of his studies, he completed an internship at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Edna, TX.

During his internship year, Pastor Strucely met his wife Katelyn. They are one of many successful online dating stories. Katelyn has a bachelor’s degree in theology from Concordia University Chicago. They were married in June 2018 after Pastor Strucely graduated from the seminary.

David and Katelyn have called DFW home since 2018 when they arrived at Atonement Lutheran Church. They have two children, Nicholas (2019) and Ava (2021).

My question for you is this: Do you have a pastor?

There are all kinds of churches you can attend. You may have even met the pastor once or twice. But is he YOUR pastor?

The word pastor comes from the Latin word for shepherd. The apostle Peter, one of the first men Jesus chose to be a pastor, wrote in his first letter, “Be shepherds of God’s flock that is under your care, watching over them—not because you must, but because you are willing, as God wants you to be; not pursuing dishonest gain, but eager to serve; not lording it over those entrusted to you, but being examples to the flock” (1 Peter 5:2,3).

Do you have someone who will come to your hospital room to read you comforting words from Scripture and pray with you?

Do you have someone who will listen to your problems, even your self-inflicted problems, and will still assure you that Jesus has forgiven you?

Do you have someone who will come to your house to bring you good news of great joy when you’re unable to come to God’s house?

Do you have someone who will call you back when you stray?

Do you have someone who will stand at your side when it’s time for Jesus to call you home?

If you don’t have a pastor, if you don’t have a shepherd, I am willing to serve you as I serve the Chief Shepherd, the Savior Jesus (1 Peter 5:4). Please, get in touch.
